The Health Promotion program provides strategic direction, planning, and coordination of community health education and behaviour change initiatives across Southern Highlands Province. The program works to empower individuals, families, and communities to adopt healthy lifestyles and make informed health decisions through sustained public engagement.

Behaviour Change & Community Mobilisation

Designs targeted communication campaigns to shift health behaviours and engage communities in health promotion activities.

NCD Prevention & Lifestyle Education

Promotes healthy diets, physical activity, and awareness programs to reduce the burden of non-communicable diseases.

Maternal, Newborn & Child Health

Delivers education on antenatal care, safe delivery, postnatal care, and child nutrition to improve family health outcomes.

Sexual & Reproductive Health

Promotes awareness of reproductive rights, family planning, STI prevention, and safe sexual practices across communities.

Hygiene, Sanitation & WASH

Campaigns for safe water use, handwashing, sanitation facilities, and waste management to prevent waterborne diseases.

Tobacco, Alcohol & Substance Abuse

Delivers prevention programs targeting harmful use of tobacco, alcohol, and substances among youth and adult populations.

Mental Health Awareness

Reduces stigma and promotes mental wellbeing through community education, awareness campaigns, and support referral pathways.

School Health & Youth Education

Implements health education programs in schools to build health literacy and healthy habits among children and young people.

This program is aligned with the National Health Plan 2021–2030 and supports SHPHA's commitment to preventive health as a foundation for reducing the burden on curative services across Southern Highlands Province.
